Do millionaires really need a big tax cut?

January 4, 2010 12:00 AM

Conservative plans to cut taxes for millionaires have come under fire from local campaigner Tony Sutton.

Graphic of expensive and cheaper housesTony said, "With many local people struggling to get by, you have to wonder about a party that prioritises tax cuts for millionaires over help for ordinary people."

Tony Sutton is backing the Lib Dem tax plan that will cut £700 off the tax bill of middle and low income earners.

Low paid and many part time workers will pay no tax at all with the Lib Dems. Older people on the State Pension will also be exempt.

Tony said, "It's a simple choice. The Lib Dems believe that the very rich should pay their fair share so we can cut taxes for ordinary families.

"The Conservatives seem to believe the very rich should pay less tax and won't do anything to help the rest of us.

"David Cameron's shadow cabinet would personally earn millions out of the tax cuts they propose. They would also put money in the pocket of "non-doms" who don't pay tax in this country.

"No wonder more and more people are switching to back the Lib Dems in Tony Sutton as the real alternative to Labour."

Only the Lib Dems will deliver fair taxes
