Highfields Park
Before the elections Dave Oldham and Tony Sutton made sure that funding for the ward was on a sound footing. Money was given to groups and projects as well as leaving healthy reserves for planned future actions.
In April they allocated £6000 from their ward allowances to meet a funding shortfall for the refurbishment of Highfields Park Play Area. After consultations the design was tweaked to take account of the resident's comments and concerns. This meant that there was not enough money from the Council and Dave and Tony were pleased to help. The Parks Development Officer said, "Thanks for allocating this funding, this will make the play are fantastic".

A grant was made to the Wollaton Park Residents Association to cover the cost of public liability insurance and ensure that the group remains an active force in the area.

Lenton Abbey Fun Day
The annual Lenton Abbey Fun Day planned for 2nd July 2011 was given a grant to make sure that this highly successful event could continue in 2011 and hopefully beyond. Tony Sutton and Dave Oldham also made sure that there is enough still in the pot for WELA so that whoever was elected as ward councillors could finance the planned work on Farndon Green and increase the provision of Youth services in the area.
Hopefully the new councillors will continue to support this work.
