9 hospitals where flammable cladding identified must be made public
The Liberal Democrats have called for a list of nine hospitals with the highest fire risks due to the use of cladding to be made public.
According to the Health Service Journal, 9 hospital sites have been identified by NHS Improvement as being at the highest risk and in need of intensive support. These are understood to be mainly high-rise hospitals where potentially combustible cladding has been used.
This is based on information provided by NHS trusts after they were asked last week to answer questions on the use of cladding at hospitals.
Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary Norman Lamb commented:
"It is shocking to hear that hospitals as well as people's homes may have been fitted with flammable material.
"The government must clarify which hospitals are affected and what action is being taken to protect patients and NHS staff.
"The public deserve to know whether or not their local hospital is among those at risk."
